SAVE THE DATE: Holmewood Spring Cleanup Day

Post date: 02-Mar-2017 16:26:32

Sunday April 23, from 10am onwards

Spring has nearly sprung and we will be giving the Holmewood Neighbourhood a seasonal clean. So please dust off your brooms, dig out your spades and gloves and join us on the day.  We'll gather in Holmewood Gardens, between the playground and dog run. It would be great if you could join us, for as little or as much time as you can spare. Please let us know if there are small scale improvement projects, like the planters built last year, which we might try to incorporate into the day’s plan.

FURTHER...

Thank you to all who joined in to give the neighbourhood a bit of a spring makeover over this weekend. Upwards of 45 people were out and about on Sunday and several residents were out on Saturday.

The weather was on our side on Sunday and it evolved into a very beautiful day as people came and went, offering whatever time they could. An immense amount of sweeping, weeding and general litter picking took place in the roads. The same occurred in the park, with the addition of planting and mulching. The park bustled with visitors, some of whom joined in too. It was fantastic to be joined by several families from outside our area whose children attend the Orchard School and who had responded to the posters in the park.

There was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day and it finished off with a well-earned bit of rest, relaxation and refreshment. Thank you to all who provided teas, coffees, cookies and other little incentives and thank you to Ahmad and Hina (the corner shop) for treating us to a platter of home made pakora.

Again as in previous years we were supported in our efforts by Lambeth. The skip was of course filled to the top and the neighbourhood is looking significantly neater and tidier! Well done and hopefully the aches and pains have subsided now.

A big thank you to Rob who organised this year’s Clean Up Day.
