Residents are forming a local Lambeth Covid Mutual Aid group and will be posting flyers to all houses locally offering help to those who are unable, or worried, to leave your home because of Corona virus.
Volunteers around Brixton Hill are looking to help members of our community through this time of crisis.
Do you need someone to talk to, walk the dog, run errands, do your shopping, deliver some essential supplies, pick up your prescription etc?

Join our Email group to discuss issues with your neighbours and see the list of residents offering help.

Dear Neighbours,

The HNA is entering its fourth year!  The Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday, 13th March, 2019.

Please come and find out what the HNA has been up to last year and join the discussion about how it can support our community in the coming year.

Election of committee
A new committee will be elected and your vote is crucial in this process.
The committee carries out the business of the Association as specified in our constitution and is made up of the three officers: Chair, Secretary, Treasurer; and 5 more members. A total of 8.
Existing members can stand again (3 year time restrictions apply on the officer posts). Due to this restriction the current Chair and Treasurer cannot stand for re-election to their posts.

Could you join the committee?
This is a fantastic, friendly, energised community and we know that there is a great deal of enthusiasm for joining in with events and initiatives. This is brilliant, but if you think you can spare a tiny bit of time, please consider joining the committee. The only qualification required is enthusiasm. We meet approximately once a month to discuss developments and to agree on what to do and to make sure that what we agreed to do, was done. This can range from organising events, to liaising with the Council over issues, to fundraising and so on.

Venue: ORCHARD PRIMARY SCHOOL
Headteacher Hoosen Randeree has kindly offered us the use of one of the Orchard School’s classrooms for the evening.
The entrance to the school is on Cotherstone Road, SW2 3ES.
Please join us from 7pm onwards, The meeting will start at 7.30.

Everybody who lives in the HNA area can attend (please see the map on the website - http://www.holmewood.org.uk/about).

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information by emailing hnacommittee@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing you.

Orchard Day Wassail - Sat 16 Feb 2019 10am & 2pm

posted 15 Feb 2019, 11:09 by HNA Committee   [ updated 15 Feb 2019, 11:55 ]

Come celebrate Holmewood Orchard with us this Saturday afternoon at 2pm!

We're having a traditional Wassail (from the Anglo-Saxon greeting Wæs þu hæl, meaning "be thou hale" or “be in good health”) on Saturday in our orchard in Holmewood Gardens. This is to wake the fruit trees up after winter by singing to them, giving them tributes of cider and hanging toast on their branches and making lots of noise to scare any evil spirits out of them. Then, as is also traditional since medieval times, we drink mulled cider and apple juice together to celebrate the fruits of the orchard. Hopefully we'll have some folk music too.

It's also a good chance to look at everything we've achieved there in the last few years, whilst chatting to neighbours and continuing to drink hot cider.

Our work in the park is paying off with it growing richer and more lush each year, and with a good community of neighbours round it. Let's celebrate both on Saturday.

PS Bring something to drink from and anything to help make a big noise - musical instruments, pans and wooden spoons, loud voices, whistles, whatever you've got to make a mighty racket.

Tree Planting and Pruning - Sat 16 Feb 10am

posted 13 Jan 2019, 03:14 by HNA Committee   [ updated 13 Jan 2019, 03:17 by Jeff Thomas ]

Please join us on the green for the planting of one more fruit tree - Russet Apple - and learning how to prune the already existing pip fruit trees.  We will also be replacing the old tree guards with the new low ones with four poles like the ones you’ve probably noticed have recently appeared on the green.

There’s lots to do and it should be fun.  Sarah-Jane from the Orchard Project will be joining us.

We’ll meet on the centre path at 10:00am.  Boots and gloves will be useful!
