A great community fun day for all in the park!

Now in it’s 4th year, the Summer Social is a free family day out in Holmewood Gardens. This is a day to come together and spend time relaxing and having fun with other members of the community. The summer social is an inclusive and free event put on by the Holmewood Neighbourhood Association. Everyone is invited to bring a national dish to share in a big picnic. This year there will be lots of events and activities for all ages to enjoy including:

-Bake Off Competition - 1:00pm

-Live Music - various times

-Bring-A-Dish Picnic - all day

-Games & Races - 4-4.30pm

-Pass the Parcel - 4.45pm

-Local Craft Beer - all day

-Raffle - draw at 6pm

What can I do to help?

  • Please bring some food and/or drink to share along with picnic essentials (see list below).
  • If you play an instrument and want to join in the musical activities, feel free.
  • Fancy yourself as a baker? Why not enter the #HolmewoodBakeOff by filling out the form and emailing it to hnacommittee@gmail.com
  • We need some #SummerSocial helpers. Consider donating a raffle prize or giving a little of your time. Be a local hero and sign up to help here or email Miranda Hudson.

SAVE THE DATE: 2017 Holmewood Social

posted 2 Mar 2017, 08:27 by HNA Committee

Saturday 17 June, from midday until evening

Back for the 4th year in a row, this annual summer get-together in the garden square is an excellent opportunity to reconnect with your neighbours and make new friends.  Please bring food and/or drink to share, music, chairs, bunting, and your usual good cheer. We’re also looking for a few neighbours to help organise the day. If you have any ideas or spare time and would like to meet to briefly discuss how we can make the 2017 Holmewood Social our best yet, please get in touch!

SAVE THE DATE: Holmewood Spring Cleanup Day

posted 2 Mar 2017, 08:26 by HNA Committee   [ updated 28 Apr 2017, 09:55 ]

Sunday April 23, from 10am onwards

Spring has nearly sprung and we will be giving the Holmewood Neighbourhood a seasonal clean. So please dust off your brooms, dig out your spades and gloves and join us on the day.  We'll gather in Holmewood Gardens, between the playground and dog run. It would be great if you could join us, for as little or as much time as you can spare. Please let us know if there are small scale improvement projects, like the planters built last year, which we might try to incorporate into the day’s plan.

FURTHER...

Thank you to all who joined in to give the neighbourhood a bit of a spring makeover over this weekend. Upwards of 45 people were out and about on Sunday and several residents were out on Saturday.

The weather was on our side on Sunday and it evolved into a very beautiful day as people came and went, offering whatever time they could. An immense amount of sweeping, weeding and general litter picking took place in the roads. The same occurred in the park, with the addition of planting and mulching. The park bustled with visitors, some of whom joined in too. It was fantastic to be joined by several families from outside our area whose children attend the Orchard School and who had responded to the posters in the park.

There was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day and it finished off with a well-earned bit of rest, relaxation and refreshment. Thank you to all who provided teas, coffees, cookies and other little incentives and thank you to Ahmad and Hina (the corner shop) for treating us to a platter of home made pakora.

Again as in previous years we were supported in our efforts by Lambeth. The skip was of course filled to the top and the neighbourhood is looking significantly neater and tidier! Well done and hopefully the aches and pains have subsided now.

A big thank you to Rob who organised this year’s Clean Up Day.
